To support our growth strategy, we are looking to hire a Strategic Sourcing Manager.
This role will report to Carbon's Director of Strategic Sourcing.
You will Responsible for developing and executing short and long-term sourcing strategies to mitigate single and sole source risks to supply continuity, quality and cost for Optics, Opto-Mechanical, PCBA and other Electrical commodities.
Working closely with our manufacturing partners, identify and implement cost reduction strategies beyond the Tier I level in order to drive profitable volume growth.
Establish and manage strategic supplier relationships at the executive level, including holding regular business reviews.
Lead NPI engagement from the sourcing organization with the Carbon Engineering and Product teams.
Drive process improvement and efficiency across operations, including scenario planning for product and inventory strategies.
Negotiate various agreements as needed with suppliers to establish best-in-class pricing, flexibility, quality, delivery, payment, warranty, and service terms.
Formulate contingency plans to de-risk technical challenges, long lead time, single source, and any supply issue.
Lead the day-to-day process of ensuring successful partnerships (milestone adherence, change order management, quality assurance, cost control, etc.
) and build supplier performance assessments to support future sourcing decisions.
Ensure optimal contract coverage in partnership with engineering and legal support.
Challenge suppliers and the internal development team to identify and implement innovative designs, value-add specification changes, concepts, and materials.
Proactively engage with engineering and finance stakeholders to refine and execute on the Carbon's business and technology roadmap.
You have BS/MS in Business, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
APICS Certification, CPIM valued.
Minimum 8 years of work experience in strategic sourcing or a related field.
Strong analytical, negotiation, contracting, communication (verbal & written), influence and leadership skills.
Proven skills to develop and implement sourcing and negotiation strategies.
Ability to think strategically (business processes, industry dynamics, short & long-term impacts, supplier capabilities and manufacturing practices, general market conditions, etc.
) Ability to perform financial analysis (i.
e.
, supplier capital projects, ROI, NPV, financial status, make vs.
buy, lease vs.
buy, etc.
) Ability to work with various levels (CEO to customer service) of supplier and internal customer management.
Proficiency working with spreadsheets, data analytics, along with the ability to communicate results both verbally and in writing.
Be self-directed, organized, and able to manage multiple projects at a time.
The ideal candidate should exhibit propensity for problem solving skills and business acumen in a highly dynamic entrepreneurial environment.
Must have the unrestricted right to work in the US without requiring sponsorship.

At Carbon, we look at the person holistically and carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation.
The pay range for this position is $124,000 - $186,000.
Your actual salary will be based on your experience, work location, certifications and the unique skills you bring to the role.
If you are not based in our Redwood City office, the range above will be adjusted for the geographical differential associated with your actual work location.
