Job Description:
Executive Assistant (Temporary, 30 hours/week) Are you a warm and welcoming individual with exceptional organizational and communication skills? Join our team at Congregation Beth Jacob (CBJ) as a temporary Executive Assistant and play a crucial role in supporting our community during the High Holidays.

Located in Redwood City, California, our synagogue attracts congregants from a broad swath of the San Francisco Peninsula.
This position entails a 30-hour workweek and requires a welcoming spirit, effective communication abilities, and proficiency in creating and editing community-wide communications, including email newsletters and flyers.
Reports to:
The Executive Assistant will report to the Executive Director, working closely with them to support the smooth functioning of the synagogue and its various programs and events.
Responsibilities:
Administrative Tasks:
Handle general administrative duties, including managing phone calls, correspondence, and office supplies.
Guest Relations:
Extend a warm and hospitable welcome to visitors and guests, offering assistance and guidance as needed.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the administrative team, clergy, and volunteers to support the overall mission and vision of the synagogue.
Communication:
Serve as a key liaison between the synagogue leadership, staff, and members.
Facilitate open and effective communication channels, ensuring that information flows smoothly and efficiently.
Editing Community-wide Communications:
Review and edit various community-wide communications, including email newsletters, announcements, and website content, to ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity.
Flyer Creation:
Under the direction of the executive director, design eye-catching and informative flyers to promote synagogue events, programs, and initiatives.
Collaborate with relevant committees to understand their needs and develop engaging marketing materials.
Event Support:
Provide logistical support for synagogue events and High Holiday services, ensuring smooth coordination, and assisting with set-up and breakdown as needed.
Data Management:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, databases, and contact lists to ensure efficient access to information.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in administrative roles or executive support is preferred.
A friendly and approachable demeanor, with exceptional interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
Strong organizational abilities and the capability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Proficiency in using productivity software, such as Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
Knowledge of Jewish customs and practices is a plus but not required.
Duration and Compensation:
This is a temporary position with a 30-hour workweek, specifically to support the synagogue during the High Holidays.
Compensation will be $27-30 per hour, and will commensurate with experience.
